Why Wax Anyway?

A lot of people don't understand how important waxing their car is, or even exactly why it should be done on a regular basis. Many people assume it's to keep the care looking shiny and repelling dirt - and that's part of it. The other part of waxing is to keep your car protected from the elements you will encounter in every day driving that can actually damage the finish of your car if you don't protect it on a regular basis.

Weather, pollution, dirt and debris will take their toll on the finish of your vehicle. If you don't detail your vehicle on a regular basis, all of these things will collect on your car's finish and with time, will cause paint to chip off as well as rust and eventually holes.

You can avoid this happening by keeping your car clean and waxing to seal in the clean finish when you're done. It's easy to do yourself once you learn a few tips and tricks that professional detailers know. Just wash your car with a good professional quality car soap and then dry with microfiber towels. Then apply a good professional grade wax to your car such as Gold Edition Wax Package that contains everything you need to keep your exterior looking sharp.

Apply your wax in small circular motions using either a wax applicator or clean microfiber towels. Let the wax completely dry then remove using microfiber towels or an orbital buffer. If you've been afraid to use an orbital buffer up until now because you were afraid you'd ruin your vehicle's finish, just take a tip from the pros. Keep your buffer moving at all times and never allow the area you're working on to heat up - be aware it can happen in seconds. If you keep it moving in a circular motion, you should have a showroom shine as well as a protected finish on your car.

Summertime Car Care

In the summer you don't have to worry about the salt on the roads, ice, snow and harsh winter conditions degrading the surface of your vehicle. Instead you have a host of new finish ruiners to worry about such as hot, blazing sun, summer rainstorms and if you enjoy road tripping in your vehicle, you'll probably find you get a lot of microscratches in the finish of your vehicle just from the debris that gets kicked up as you drive down the road.

Fortunately there is a lot you can do to protect the finish of your car from getting damaged by exposure to any of these factors. Remember, scratches on your vehicle's finish are like leaving an open door for rust to move in and take up residence and after your car begins rusting it's very difficult - and expensive - to fix.

Just keep your car protected and you can eliminate a future big expense for re-finishing your car. First of all, start with a clean car. Use a good cleaner that will remove scum, dirt and accumulated debris. Then, if you have scratches, fill them in using a good Clay Pad Car Polish Paint Rejuvenator. You just spray and keep the clay pad wet and then rub it over the scratches and let it dry then wipe off with a clean microfiber towel. Then seal up your good work with a wax job or for an even shinier finish, go for a good glaze finish wax.

Wax does far more than give your vehicle a cool shine. It also protects your car's finish and when you make detailing your vehicle a regular part of your upkeep routine for your car, you'll save a lot of money from future repairs caused by not keeping up the exterior of your car.
