Curious About the Difference in Professional Car Cleaning Products?

If you want a professional finish to your automobile, you need to use high quality, professional grade products. Sure, you can go to the dollar store and load up on cheap soaps and you'll get a car that is fairly clean. However, most cheap soaps dry with streaks and some can actually damage the finish on your car. That reason alone makes professional quality products worth the small cost.

When you're going to detail a car you need to start with a clean surface. Using a professional car soap will enable you to cut through the grease and grime and other things that build up on the exterior of your car through normal use.

Also, professional car cleaning products are usually concentrated. This makes them very convenient to use as you just mix what you need in a separate container; this is also a very cost effective way to keep your car detailed. You won't even use one whole container of a professional car cleaning product when you're using it by mixing what you need. The major ingredient in most over the counter cleaning products is one of three things, ammonia, alcohol or water. None of them will get your car clean and ammonia will degrade a plastic surface by setting up a chain reaction between the ammonia components and the plastic; eventually making the plastic brittle. Also, because over the counter products are more diluted, you will need to use more of them to get your car really clean.

This goes for not only soaps you use on your car, but the waxes, the interior cleaners and the glass cleaners. If you skimp on any part of detailing your car, it will show. It doesn't take a lot of products to keep your car looking showroom shiny. All you need to do is wash and wax your exterior on a regular basis. If you see scratches or swirl marks on the surface of your car, simply use a clay bar rejuvenator to rub them out and then proceed as usual.

Just make sure you use good professional car cleaning products when you detail your car and you'll find keeping your car looking sharp is a lot less work.

Dressings - And We Don't Mean For Salads

Dressings are a point of contention among anyone that loves to detail cars, whether for personal pleasure or for profit. Most people have a firm like or dislike of the "wet look". It really gets down to a matter of personal preference as far as looks go and if you don't know the positives about dressings it might change to mind to find out what they really do besides give a high glossy finish to your car.

You will also hear the argument made very frequently that vinyl surfaces can become "addicted" to the use of dressings. meaning that if you use a dressing on a vinyl surface and then stop, it will begin to crack. Rest easy, there is no documentation to currently back up that claim.

When used hand in hand with regular detailing, dressings can give new life to many parts of a car. Convertible tops and dashboards benefit greatly from the use of dressings. Dressings offer a shield of protection from UV (ultraviolet) rays that can cause damage to your car's vinyl surfaces.

Use your dressings sparingly on your vinyl as well as your tires and always make sure that you remove the excess dressing. A fine, glossy finish is all that should remain when you are done. Further good news about dressings on tires is that not only do they look good, keeping your tires dressed also allows the rubber to be a little more puncture resistant as it will have a little more "give" when it encounters a sharper object that might puncture an undressed tire.

Be sure and only use dressings on your vinyl and tire areas your car will not only look sharp but you'll actually be extending the life of your tires as well as keeping the vinyl areas in your vehicle supple and conditioned.
