Removing Icky Cigarette Smells From Your "New" Used Car

So you got a great price on that used car you've been eyeing but the owner said that you would have to give the interior the once over yourself. The drives like a champ but the inside smells like an ashtray and you don't smoke!

With a little elbow grease, you can erase the memory of cigarettes past with a good thorough detailing. First of all, consider that the smoke from cigarettes has permeated almost every interior place in the car and along with the smell, there is probably a slightly yellow nicotine residue.

First of all get rid of all the dust and dirt that is loose by vacuuming the interior of the car. Then use a good interior cleaner to remove any stubborn stains and something that leaves a clean scent will do a world of good for removing the traces of smoke residue and the unpleasant smoke smell.

Next, tackle the windows and use a good glass cleaner to cut through the nicotine stains and you'll be rewarded with shiny, crystal clear windows that look like new.

Use a good, foamy cleaner to get the deeply rooted smells and ground up dirt and odors out of the upholstery and carpets. Most people are pleased to find they can clean the carpets and even floor mats and won't need to replace them. When you weigh the price of replacing items on a car, especially a used car, cleaning what you can and renewing items within the car make it a much more economical option. Last but not least, spritz your car's interior with a scent you'll enjoy. Anything from new car smell to cherry is available.

There you have it, you can breathe new life into your "new" used car and no one has to know it was ever owned by someone that smoked.

Oh No! Cat Pee In Your New Car!

When the weather starts getting warmer, it's easy to forget to roll your car windows up at night and wouldn't you know it, the one time you forget to do that a neighborhood cat decides to come introduce himself?

There are many reasons a male cat will spray your car. Among them are if you have other animals that have been in the car, their scent will drive the male cat to remark his "territory" and technically since you're where he roams, you're on "his" turf.

In the morning when you go to get in your car for work or errands, the unmistakable odor of ammonia will hit you in the face like a brick and you will want to get that smell out of your car as quickly as possible.

It will be easy to locate the emanating spot where the marking happened. Just let your nose lead the way and when you find it, use a spot cleaner on the area to lift out the urine stain and smell. It may take two applications (let dry in between) to completely get rid of the scent, however it can be done. Follow up with a spritz of your favorite car scent to get any lingering smell out of the air and you should have a cat-free zone inside your car again.

And don't forget to leave your windows up!
