NEW CAR CARE! How do I care for my new car?

A new car often needs more care than a used car. Purchasing a new car is exciting and fun, however, the excitement goes away once the payments start. To keep the new car look and smell will take work on your part. With the right car care products, caring for your new car will become second nature and will keep you excited even when you make your monthly car payment.

1. New car paint scratches need to be removed.

As you know, auto paint scratches hurt the look of a new car finish. Unfortunately, you will never be able to avoid clear coat scratches. You can however fix minor scratches and minimize the risk of causing new ones. When you find a new scratch make sure you take immediate action by keeping the area clean of dirt and debris. This will keep the scratch confined and lower your risk of causing more damage. Now, with new technology there are professional auto paint scratch removers that can help. You do not need to be a professional auto detailer to achieve professional results. After applying and removing an auto rubbing compound (paint scratch remover) you should follow up with a polish to minimize paint defects. This will provide a nice shine to your paints finish and prepare you for the final step, which is to apply a sealer wax for durability, shine and protection. While caring for your new car, just remember anything that comes in contact with your car's finish should be soft - this will help avoid scratches. Using the correct car washing mitt and microfiber towels will reduce your chances of causing unwanted paint scratches, thereby keeping your new car look its best.

2. Keep your new car out of the elements.

This means parking or storing your new car in a garage or other covered areas away from inclement weather and the elements. If you want to go above and beyond, you can use a car cover, this will prolong your clear coat protection from sunlight and other environmental fallout, justifying the time spent washing and waxing your new car. If your car is constantly exposed to sunlight and other environmental hazards, the finish will deteriorate quicker and require significantly more cosmetic maintenance on your part so in the long run you are saving yourself more detailing work.

3. Car wax and paint sealant are a must for your new car.

In addition to providing gloss and depth to the finish of your car, applying a good car wax will also protect your car from the elements, including weather, sunlight and even bird droppings. Once you apply and remove car wax, follow it up by applying and removing paint sealant, which is designed to extend your new car paint finish.

4. How often should I detail my new car?

You should detail your car about every 3 to 4 weeks, unless you live in an area where there is road construction which will cause dust and debris to settle on your vehicle and may require detailing more often. Just the simple process of washing, drying and waxing your car will bring rewards of a car that looks in tip-top shape for years to come!

Taking Vehicle Cleaning Into Your Own Hands

Did you find that you didn't get the gift certificate for car detailing during the holiday season as you had hoped to receive? Well, if so then you should really know that you have absolutely nothing to worry about. With the right products and a little bit of effort on your part, you can have the entire inside of your car looking tip-top, just as if the professionals got to it and went over it with the complete white glove treatment. As a matter of fact, you might feel silly about wishing for a detailing gift certificate once you actually find out just how great it can be to take care of the cleaning schedule of your car all by yourself.

There are plenty of incredible products available that you can use at home on your own vehicle to get the inside as well as the outside of your car looking like new. Get things going by grabbing a box for the items that you would like to put back into your car and a bag for trash and begin the cleaning process. Next up, you are going to want to do an initial sweep of the interior of the car with a vacuum. A second sweep will be called for later on just to make sure that you have not brought anything back in during the cleaning process.

After you vacuum, you can then work on cleaning all of the windows, then onto the dash and insides of the doors. A cleaner such as Lane's Vinyl Cleaner is sure to do the trick to get off anything that is sticky or creating a film on these surfaces. Next, you can make sure that you pay attention to all of the seating and then work your way back down for another cleaning of the carpeting. This will be a good time to use a shampoo step or a good spray cleaner for your carpets if you need it. Finish all of this up with a decent spritz of a good car scent of your choice and you will have a detailing job that you can be extremely proud of.

A Car Care Kit For Your Teen

When the time finally rolls around for your teenager to get their license, they will soon be looking into getting their very first vehicle as well. While this can be a major step for them as well as for you, it might be a good time to embrace their milestone and show them that you admire their responsible actions by getting them a little gift to go along with their new car. Certainly, most teenagers will definitely want the gift to be the actual car itself, however a car care kit is just as helpful to aid them in keeping their wheels like new.

Your teen will take pride in caring for their vehicle, especially when they have the help of all of the right products to help them maintain a wonderful exterior and interior. You can put together a terrific car care kit with a bucket and a bunch of the best products that Lane's has to offer. Some of the items in the bucket could easily be a bottle of car wash soap, some great car wax, aluminum wheel cleaner, car detail spray, glass cleaner and more. Throw in a car air freshener, some washing pads and drying clothes and your teen will have everything that they need to keep their ride looking great for any of the outings that they have planned.

Just as with any of the other responsibilities you have shown your teen throughout the years, the gift of a car care kit will help to show them that maintaining a clean vehicle is another great step in responsibility as an adult. Who knows, maybe they will love cleaning their car so much that they will want to clean yours as well!
