Auto Detailing Dilemma - Car Windows Never Really Look Clean

If your car windows always look streaky or dirty, no matter how cool your car's exterior looks or how well you've detailed your interior of your car, the windows are going to detract from that and make your car look pretty miserable.

Fortunately there are a number of things you can do to get your windows sparkling clean. Lane's has two great auto glass cleaners, and one of them should be just what the doctor ordered to get your windows back to showroom shine.

If you have just a light build up of pollution, dirt and grime; try Lane's Glass Cleaner. It's a simple name for a very complex cleaner that is very easy to use. Just shake well and spray on your windows, wait for the foam to subside and then wipe clean with a microfiber towel.

If you have a lot of build up of grease and grime or if you smoke, you will want to use something a little more heavy duty to get your auto glass really clean. Lane's Concentrated Auto Glass Cleaner will cut through just about anything that is on your car's windows and it is so easy to use. It pairs up great with Lane's Corduroy Window and Glass Cloth. You just put a small application of the concentrated window cleaner directly on the cloth and rub in a small area at a time. Wipe until clean and you'll be amazed at how quickly your car windows return to that showroom shine.

After you get your car's windows looking sharp, keep them that way with regular detailing, once you get a system of your own for doing it, it's easy to keep your car looking sharp!

What Is Microfiber?

Microfiber products are a boon for the auto detailing industry. Although the technology to create microfiber has been around since the 1950's, the actual creation of microfiber didn't occur until the 1970's.

A Microfiber towel is comprised of very fine polyester fibers that do not retain or distribute lint or fibers when used. Microfiber is twice as fine as silk and there are four main types produced from synthetic fibers. Acrylic, nylon, rayon and polyester, for auto detailing purposes the most common blend found for microfiber toweling is a nylon-polyester blend.

Because of the absorbency and the lack of fibers these towels leave behind when detailing your car, they are ideal for cleaning, drying and polishing your car's exterior. There are microfiber products for every venue of auto detailing. From microfiber gloves to waffle weave towels to microfiber washing mits and glass towels. The interesting aspect of microfiber drying towels is they absorb almost 8 times their weight in water because of the micro-splitting of the fibers. Each creates a pocket of sorts that holds water within the towel and away from your car's surface. Hence, they are very good for drying your car and getting an ultra smooth surface for waxing.

To clean your microfiber towels, simply wash in liquid detergent and use only cold water, it has been found that hot water can cause your fibers to shrink in some toweling and the effectiveness of your microfiber towel will be lost. Do not use fabric softeners as they will fill up the microfiber pockets and leave your towel useless - additionally do not place in a dryer - just lay flat to dry and you'll have a towel ready to perform again next time you quick detail your car!

Auto Detailing Dilemma - Spring Is Coming - Spruce Up Your Convertible Top

Winter is no friend to your car's convertible. Even an automobile that is kept in the garage gets exposed to the elements whenever you drive it and eventually sun, rain, extremes in temperatures -both hot and cold - will take their toll on your car's convertible top.

The number one boo-boo most people make with their convertible tops is using over-the-counter cleaning products. These products will work "okay" but won't get your convertible top truly clean and among the chemicals that most contain, is ammonia which will make the plastic and vinyl that is part of the overall makeup of your convertible top become brittle and eventually begin to break away in pieces. Buying a good high end cleaner is a heck of a lot cheaper than purchasing a replacement convertible top!

Lane's Power Clean will do a fantastic job cutting through the grease, dirt and grime that just builds up from everyday use of your car. Best of all, it is such a powerful cleaner, it cuts down on the elbow grease you'll have to use to get your convertible top looking really nice. Just shake well, spray it on a small area of your convertible top, and use a sponge to get the area clean. Work in small areas. Then, rinse your convertible well and dry with a clean, microfiber towel. When one towel gets too wet to dry, switch to a new towel. Don't use the worn out towel you used to dry off with and now has been retired to garage duty, it will leave millions of fibers all over your convertible top and you'll wind up back at square one just to remove them.

After cleaning and drying your convertible top, protect it with an application of Big Orange. This auto dressing will keep your convertible top supple and looking new.To use, just apply Big Orange with a sprayer or directly with a sponge and wipe down in small areas until the entire top is covered.

Repeat these steps whenever you detail your car and you will be rewarded with a convertible top that looks like new for years to come.

Auto Detailing Dilemma - My Car Smells Like Smoke

If you smoke or your have frequent passengers who smoke in your car, eventually the smell is going to get in your upholstery and linger there. This will be no more evident than in the Winter when you have your windows rolled up and the heater running in your auto.

Fortunately, if you use high end auto detailing products, you can make that smoke smell a distant memory.

First, you will need to thoroughly clean the inside of your car. Lane's Foamy Upholstery will do a super job at this task. Just spray it on evenly over your carpets and other upholstered areas and then wipe clean with a dry, microfiber towel. Not only will it lift out the cigarette smoke odor but dirt and grime as well and it will leave your car with a fresh scent.

Nicotine can leave a stained film on your windows. You'll want to clean those too. Just use Lanes Concentrated Auto Glass Cleaner. A little goes a long way and it will cut through the oily film left behind and leave you with a sparkling, clean window.

At this point, you will already notice a marked difference in your scent of your car. You can take it a step further and add a scent to your interior. Lane's has a great line of car scents that range from New Car Scent to Leather Scent to Cinnamon and for a fun diversion, Bubblegum Scent.

If you smoke in your car, you will need to do this on a regular basis and getting into the habit of detailing your car's interior will keep it looking as good inside as out!
