Detailing Made Easy - How To Wash Your Car

Friday, December 30, 2005

There is a definite right way and wrong way to wash your car and doing it the right way is the core of good detailing. Washing your car with inferior products or using the wrong techniques can leave your car with swirls and streaks and degrade the look of your auto.

First, thoroughly wet your car down, really drench it. Leaving dry spots where you might rub dirt in will mar and scratch the surface of your car. Hence, getting your car good and wet at the start will insure you don't have that problem.

Next, use a good car soap. We recommend Home Wash & Shine which is the most concentrated car wash soap on the auto detailing market today. This car soap will save you a lot of time when you're doing your regular detailing of your auto because it is not only self-drying, it leaves no streaks. Since it's a concentrate, a little goes a long way. It's easy to use, just use 1 oz per gallon of water. Add an extra ounce if your car is in need of a deep cleaning. Use a mitt to watch your car's exterior thoroughly.

Wash your car in small sections. Wet, soap and rinse before moving on to the next area of your automobile. This will insure that you are not grinding dirt into your car's finish as well as you are getting a really clean auto. When you're done washing, rinse your entire car once more to insure there is no soap residue left on your car.

Dry your car, again in small sections and thoroughly using a small microfiber towel. When the towel is unable to absorb moisture, trade it for a clean dry towel. This will eliminate swirls and streaks on your car's finish.

With a little regular washing and using the right products, your car can look sharp all the time!

The Often Forgotten Item To Detail On Your Car - Your Engine

Detailing and maintaining your engine does two fold good. It not only enhances the appearance of your engine, a clean engine tends to run cooler and you can catch any leaks that might be occuring in your engine as well.

First step is to put a plastic bag over your engine's air intake. Protecting the distributor and electrical circuit parts from getting wet can be accomplished by using aluminium foil and/or a plastic bag.

The dirt and grease on your engine will be a project to remove the first time you do it. Lane's Engine Degreaser will go a long way to making it not such a tough job to accomplish.

Since you don't have to worry about scratches, you can scrub a little harder and use a higher water pressure. Just be certain your plastic bags and foil are in place and will withstand a good rinsing.

Use your mitt or sponge and clean around your engine. A thin brush with strong bristles can make quick work of a lot of grease and grime. Remember if you make cleaning your engine part of your routine car maintenance, it won't be such a chore next time around.

After washing your engine, dry with a microfiber towel and rub until dry. If you clean your battery and battery box, don't use any of the items used to clean this on any other part of your car as it can lead to corrosion.

After your engine is dry, Lane's Engine Dressing can leave your engine extra-protected and looking sharp.

Auto Detailing Dilemma - Removing Cat Urine From Your Car's Interior

It might have happened to you or someone you know, but once in a while you might forget to leave your windows up in your car and a cat might get in and spray. The smell is noxious and overwhelming and especially in the warming months it can be downright gagging.

Fortunately, it can be removed with a little elbow grease and the proper products. First of all, let's toss out the old stand bys. Lemon juice leaves you with citrus smelling cat urine in your car and white vinegar will lessen the smell but it won't really clean your car's interior.

First attack the offending areas with Carpet Spot Remover. This is a fast acting carpet spot cleaner enhanced wetting agents that disperse stains and odors quickly. it works great with Lane's Foamy Upholstery Cleaner. Just spray an even coating over the area and then rub clean with a dry towel. Let the area dry and then use the upholstery cleaner to insure the area is thoroughly cleansed.

Lane's Foamy Upholstery Cleaner has the strength you need. This cleaner is far stronger than anything you can get in your local retail store. The cleaner works by disbanding dirt and grime molecules and making them easy to clean up. It's even easy to use, simply shake well and then spray an even coat over the area where your visitor was and then wipe clean with a dry towel.

It the cat was a little overzealous during their visit, it might take two applications, though most stains and odors can be removed with one application.

Follow up with a Car Air Freshener in the favorite scent of choice and the visit by your feline friend will be just a memory.
