Winter Care For Your Car's Vinyl

Winter is here and it can rob your vinyl of valuable moisture which will lead to it getting dry and then starting to crack and peel. This can be duly avoided through some simple cleaning and conditioning to keep your vinyl clean and supple. Always use professional grade products to achieve this result make the maintenance process even easier for you.

If your car's interior is vinyl, it will last a lot longer if you clean and condition it on a regular basis. Make yourself a regular schedule for doing this and do your best to stick to it. Lane's makes a great interior cleaning product especially for vinyl called Power Clean.

Cleaning your vinyl interior is easy to do. Just clean the area free of dust and dirt using a vacuum with a good brush attachment. Use the vacuum in the corners or you wll find that those little specs of dust and dirt you thought were insignificant, will turn into little dirty drops of water that will mar the inside of your interior. Also, any hard debris you leave behind can be abrasive and possibly scratch or tear your vinyl. Take your time and do a good job on the vacuuming - it's very worth it.

Then, give your vinyl interior the once over with a professional grade cleaner, it's worth it to use professional products because in the long run their higher quality will maintain and protect the surface much longer than a retail product. Clean small areas at a time, don't just pour it on and then wipe it off in one swipe. Working in small areas insures no streaking or smears on your vinyl finish. Use a microfiber towel to insure you don't leave any towel fibers on your interior.

After a thorough cleaning you need to condition your vinyl to keep it soft and flexible. Simply wipe on the conditioner and then wipe down with a soft clean microfiber towel.

Following these simple steps will ensure that your vinyl stays nice not only through the Winter but the rest of the year as well!

The Importance Of Waxing And Sealing Your Auto Paint

If you want your clear-coat finish to last, you'll have to wax and seal your paint. It's not hard and if you follow these simple steps, you can keep your clear-coat finish looking like new for years to come.

First, use a good clay bar on the exterior of your auto. Following the manufacturer's directions, simply use the clay bar to remove dust particles and other tiny debris that will lodge in your car's paint. By using the claw bar method, you're removing the culprits of finish dulling, a clay bar prevents the sealing in dirt and creating more scratches.

Next, use a good automotive polish and gently rub out existing scratches in your car's finish. Be sure to wipe away excess polish from the cracks and trim. Don't apply your wax and seal until the excess polish is removed as this will interfere with good coverage from the sealer and from the wax itself.

Then, seal the surface with a sealer or glaze such as Lane's Ultimate Glaze or Horizon Glaze Cleaner Polishers. When you seal your auto paint, you fill in the minor scratches that were not removed with polishing alone. The sealer smoothes the surface and eliminates deeper scratches.

The last step is the wax itself. Wax puts a protective layer over your auto paint. To apply wax, use long even strokes, making sure to get an even layer over the sealed paint. Use just enough wax to cover the surface. After the wax dries, buff vigorously with a clean cotton towel. Don't use a towel from your bathroom, get yourself a couple of good microfiber towels to use. Be sure to buff off all the wax and run your hand over the paint to make sure it is gone.

It takes effort to wax and seal the paint on your car, but it is well worth it. Not only will it pay off in extending the life of your paint, but the effects of waxing and sealing the paint will enhance your car's appearance and help keep the value of your car up for years to come.
