Wondering why when you wash and wax your car, it still looks dirty and like it needs to be detailed? It's probably the products you're using. If you want a professional finish to your automobile, you need to use high quality, professional grade products. Sure, you can go to the dollar store and load up on cheap soaps and you'll get a car that is fairly clean. However, most cheap soaps dry with streaks and some can actually damage the finish on your car. That reason alone makes professional quality products worth the small cost. When you're going to detail a car you need to start with a clean surface. Using a professional car soap will enable you to cut through the grease and grime and other things that build up on the exterior of your car through normal use.
Also, professional car cleaning products are usually concentrated. This makes them very convenient to use as you just mix what you need in a separate container; this is also a very cost effective way to keep your car detailed. You won't even use one whole container of a professional car cleaning product when you're using it by mixing what you need. The major ingredient in most over the counter cleaning products is one of three things, ammonia, alcohol or water. None of them will get your car clean and ammonia will degrade a plastic surface by setting up a chain reaction between the ammonia components and the plastic; eventually making the plastic brittle. Also, because over the counter products are more diluted, you will need to use more of them to get your car really clean.
This goes for not only soaps you use on your car, but the waxes, the interior cleaners and the glass cleaners. If you skimp on any part of detailing your car, it will show. It doesn't take a lot of products to keep your car looking showroom shiny. All you need to do is wash and wax your exterior on a regular basis. If you see scratches or swirl marks on the surface of your car, simply use a clay bar rejuvenator to rub them out and then proceed as usual.
Just make sure you use good professional car cleaning products when you detail your car and you'll find keeping your car looking sharp is a lot less work.
